2007
On September 22, 2007, Moises Alou hit safely in his 26th straight game, setting a new franchise mark for the New York Mets in a single season. Alou went hitless in his first three at-bats before singling to start the ninth inning. At 41 years and 80 days old, Alou became the oldest player in Major League history to have a hitting streak of at least 20 games.

1993
On September 22, 1993, Nolan Ryan of the Texas Rangers makes his final major league appearance. Pitching against the Seattle Mariners, the 46-year-old Ryan allows a grand slam and leaves the game in the first inning with a torn ligament in his elbow.

1969
On September 22, 1969, Willie Mays of the San Francisco Giants hits his 600th career home run. Pinch-hitting for George Foster, Mays connects against Mike Corkins of the San Diego Padres, helping the Giants earn a 4-2 win. Mays trails only Babe Ruth on the all-time home run list…

1968
On September 22, 1968, Cesar Tovar of the Minnesota Twins plays every position during a 2-1 win over the Oakland A's. Tovar plays one inning at each position, in a publicity stunt orchestrated by Twins management. Tovar becomes the second player in major league history to play all nine positions. Three years earlier, the A's' Bert Campaneris pulled off the same stunt in a late-season game.
