On October 24, 1972, Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson dies from a heart attack at the age of 53. Nine days earlier, Robinson had thrown out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the start of Game Two of the World Series. In 1947, Robinson became the first black player in 20th century major league history.
